Project Profile – Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
The DOE OCIO for the National Nuclear Security Administration manages and governs the NNSA IT portfolio and ensures its strategic alignment. The OCIO fosters information sharing to ensure that IT systems across the NNSA are coordinated, have the necessary cyber security protection, and are in alignment with the NNSA Strategic Plan and Department of Energy requirements. To support the OCIO’s full range of needs, Federated IT manages the Cyber Security Division for the National Nuclear Security Administration which encompasses 11 nuclear facilities and the DOE HQ, as well as provides IT professional services, technical advisory and assistance to augment its Federal staff.
Federated IT develops and maintains an IT strategy for NNSA’s $1.4 Billion dollar technology portfolio. We develop near and long term strategies and methods for conducting Capital Planning and Investment Control, develop Enterprise Architecture, and develop IT policy while promoting FISMA/CAMS compliance. Federated IT supports and develops policies for the NNSA’s systems while complying with DOE/NNSA and Federal policy requirements and we provide full procurement support for hardware, software, and services as requested by the OCIO.
At the NNSA Headquarters we manage the AHE and unclassified Networks to optimize uptime, reliability, and security. This network infrastructure requirement support includes analysis, systems engineering, and network monitoring. Federated provides application development, implementation, and maintenance services for the NNSA’s internet/intranet/extranet presence and this includes developing and implementing new applications and web pages with a Microsoft windows development environment, evaluation and integration of COTs and GOTs solutions, and maintenance of legacy applications. We develop plans, policies, and approaches to promote Enterprise Secure Network compliance with security and technological strategies developed by the OCIO and we provide management and maintenance of all NNSA IT systems, applications, and websites that are part of the HQ ESN, NESAN, and NSAN network modes in Washington, DC and Germantown, MD.
