Project Profile – Department of Labor (OSHANet)
Federated Information Technologies commenced work in Feb 2011 on sensitive US Department of Labor (DOL) Information Technology Enterprise systems through a program called “OSHANet Operations, Maintenance and IT Security”. Under the OSHANet contract, Federated provides information technology professional services in the management, architecture and security of enterprise level networks, telecommunications, applications and servers for users in Regional and Local offices across every state and the US Territories. OSHANet provides distributed computing services from the Washington DC and Utah operations centers, where Federated manages and secures the 135 geographically dispersed Local Area Networks (LANs).
The IT Infrastructure is comprised of switches, servers, appliances as well as network telecommunications systems. It provides the connectivity to over 4,000 users who rely on a secure and stable General Support System (GSS) that is classified as a “Sensitive” system and is subject to the reporting requirements of the Department of Labor and the Office of Management and Budget. The O&M functions are divided between two centers, the Network Operations Center (NOC) at the national office in Washington DC and the DOL Data Center located in Sandy UT. There are multiple smaller networks on the WAN and the over 400 servers house the applications (File, print, Exchange, database, web, SAN, Citrix, Blackberry, etc) critical to the enterprise.
Federated services include Level II and III support to email, client server, backup, communications, network security, business continuity and disaster recovery of IT critical systems, and software distribution to servers, personal computers and mainframe access.
"Federated employees epitomize the kind of people our Agency customer seeks. Selfless, mission-driven, and technically astute; they blend ingenuity with a positive attitude and strong inter-personal skills that have won them the respect of their peers as well as management."
